Seminar on Chen Yun and Qingpu to mark the 110th anniversary of Comrade Chen Yun’s birth was held in the afternoon of June 9 at the second-floor meeting room of the Party School of CPC Qingpu District Committee, Shanghai. It’s co-organized by the Publicity Department, Party School and the Party History Research Office of CPC Qingpu District Committee, aiming at revisiting Comrade Chen Yun’s outstanding achievements in different historic periods of revolution, construction and reform, remembering and learning his noble spirit of devoting to the cause of the Party and the people, as well as developing in-depth and lasting studies on his life and thoughts.

Cai Zhong, a member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Qingpu District and head of the Publicity Department, attended and addressed the meeting, which was presided over by Hu Aiming, head of the Office of Qingpu Chronicles. More than 110 people attended the meeting, including publicity officials from the Party Committees and working committees at towns and communities, officials from departments and authorities of the District Party Committee and the District government, authorities of the Qingpu District, people’s organizations, public institutions under the direct governance of Qingpu District, local Party committees of the District’s companies, authors whose papers were included in the collection and related staff of the organizers.

The seminar received 135 articles, 39 of which were selected into the collection for publishing. A total of 9 articles submitted by Chen Yun Memorial were chosen and awarded a first prize, a second prize, and 7 third prizes. Besides, the representatives of these article writers also made remarks at the seminar.

Sun Honggen, deputy head of the Publicity Department of CPC Qingpu District Committee, announced the winner list. Shen Xiaolong, Vice President of the Party School of CPC Qingpu District Committee, elaborated on the selection process. Ma Jifen, Secretary of the General Party Branch of the Chen Yun Memorial, delivered a keynote speech titled “Learn from Comrade Chen Yun”. Lu Jiafeng, Wang Yixiong, Du Juan, Liu Minghui, Wu Shuchuan and Wang Weihong also exchanged ideas on their respective researches on Comrade Chen Yun’s philosophies, Party building theories, economic thoughts, good conducts and working styles.

Secretary Ma Jifen reviewed Comrade Chen Yun’s the life stories from an apprentice at the Commercial Press to an excellent leader of China’s revolution, construction and reform. Combining the “Three Stricts and Three Earnests”, he said that veteran revolutionists were models in this regard and Comrade Chen Yun was an outstanding one of them. Ma called on all to learn from Comrade Chen Yun’s firm belief in communism, noble character of serving the people, mentality and method of seeking truth from facts, perseverance and strong will, investigation-based working method, and adherence to principles and disciplines.
