Study the Important Remarks of Comrade Xi Jinping

On June 18, “Seminar on Studying the Important Remarks of Comrade Xi Jinping and Commemorating the 110th Anniversary of the Birth of Comrade Chen Yun” was jointly held by the CCCPC Party Literature Research Office and the China Institute of CPC Literature Research in Beijing, aiming at deeply studying and implementing Xi’s important remarks at the symposium to mark the 110th anniversary of the birth of Comrade Chen Yun.

Chen Yuan, Vice Chairman of the CPPCC attended and addressed the seminar. Other leaders, including Leng Rong, Director of the CCCPC Party Literature Research Office; Zhang Quanjing, former Head of the Organization Department of the CPC Central Committee; and Yu Yunyao, former Executive Vice President of the Party School of the Central Committee of the CPC and President of the National Society for the CPC Building Studies and others also attended and made remarks at the meeting. About 100 people attended the meeting, including representatives and experts and scholars from central state organs, related local departments, all relevant universities, research institutes and army forces, Comrade Chen Yun’s relatives, representatives of Chen’s original staff and comrades.

General Secretary Xi delivered an important speech at the symposium to mark the 110th anniversary of the birth of Comrade Chen Yun on June 12. He spoke highly of Comrade Chen Yun’s outstanding achievements and noble characters, called on all CPC members to learn and promote Chen’s firm belief, strong Party principles, spirits of one heart on the people, seeking truth from facts and hardworking, to continuously push forward the great cause developed by the older generation of revolutionists.

The attendees exchanged in-depth views centering on General Secretary Xi’s important speech at the seminar. They agreed that Xi had highly evaluated the great contributions made by Comrade Chen Yun to the Party and the people’s cause, summarized Comrade Chen’s revolutionary spirits in five aspects, put forward learning requirement of the “Five Musts” to all Party members, and called on all members to remember historical achievements of the older generation of revolutionists, to constantly push forward the great cause created by them. They said that Xi’s speech had an important guiding significance in inspiring the whole Party, the country and Chinese people of all ethnic groups to inherit the noble demeanor of the older generation of revolutionists, so as to unswervingly advance socialism with Chinese characteristics.

The attendees thought that all through Chen’s 70-year revolutionary career, especially his responsibility and act in some critical periods, fully demonstrating Comrade Chen Yun’s excellent characters featuring loyalty, perseverance, open heart and his noble ideas realm as a proletarian revolutionist. And the outstanding contributions made by Chen to the Party and the country rested on his firm ideal and faith in communism, noble character of serving the people, thought method in seeking truth from facts, as well as work style of focusing on investigation and research. But the contributions were more attributed to the great importance he attached to learning philosophy from life and work and the ability to analyze and solve problems based on Marxist philosophy.

The attendees agreed that the spirit of the older generation of revolutionists showed by Comrade Chen Yun was a strong spiritual motive to inspire all Party members to strive forward. It was time for this generation to shoulder on the historic mission. China was closer, more confident and more capable than ever before of making the goal of national rejuvenation a reality. All Party members shall uphold the leadership of the CPC Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping as its core, to unswervingly adhere to socialism with Chinese characteristics and carry forward the great cause developed by the older generation of revolutionists.

Xu Jianping, Curator of Chen Yun Memorial, also made remarks at the seminar. He said that staff of the Memorial, in particular, should study and implement the spirit of   General Secretary Xi’s speech and continue to advance the building of Chen Yun Memorial.
