260,000-word expansion of A Chronicle of Chen Yun’s Life (Revised)

In commemoration of the 110th anniversary of the birth of Comrade Chen Yun, A Chronicle of Chen Yun’s Life (Revised), complied by the CCCPC Party Literature Research Office, is published nationwide by the Central Party Literature Press recently upon the approval of the CPC Central Committee.

The first edition of A Chronicle of Chen Yun’s Life was published 15 years ago in 2000. Judging by either Chen Yun’s significant position in the history of the Party and the country, or the profound significance of his thoughts and conducts to the Party and the country, or even the importance of commemorating and publicizing veteran revolutionists to advancing the great cause of today, it is urgent to revise and reissue the book. The revised edition, under the guidance of historical materialism and characterized by its data-based, academically-orientated, thoughtful and biographical nature, has been greatly improved with numerous new materials. The book boasts abundant historical materials as more materials of Chen Yun’s role in China’s revolution, construction and reform and opening up are supplemented. The book gives a vivid and systematic explanation of Chen Yun’s thoughts with the refinement and supplement of Chen Yun’s concept of China’s revolution, construction and reform and opening up. With a focus on the coherence of the text, the book gives a faithful account of Chen Yun’s important role at critical moments and his interaction with other leaders. Furthermore, the book emphasizes Chen Yun’s spiritual world and noble characters, which renders it biographical. With the features mentioned above, A Chronicle of Chen Yun’s Life (Revised) displays a full image of Comrade Chen Yun’s revolution career, historic contributions, important thoughts and sublime nature. The three-volume book, with an expansion of 260,000 words, is data-based, academically-orientated, thoughtful and biographical natures. It lays a foundation to study the life of Comrade Chen Yun, and is also an important reference for studying the history of the Party and the country, especially the development of economic construction since the founding of the People's Republic of China. In conclusion, A Chronicle of Chen Yun’s Life (Revised) is significant for further studying Comrade Chen Yun’s thoughts and noble characters, and better understanding of the history of China’s revolution, construction and reform.
