Comrade Chen Yun devoted all his life and made indelible contributions to China’s cause of revolution, construction and reform. He set a prime example for later generations with his lofty spirit. The year 2015 marks the 110th birthday anniversary of Chen Yun. On January 24, 2011, the Historical Relics Hall (Historical Relics Restoration Project) of Chen Yun Memorial was comprehensively launched under the approval of the CPC Shanghai Municipal Committee and the central government. The project aims to reflect Comrade Chen Yun’s real life, fine qualities and noble values. On July 19, the National Development and Reform Commission listed in the second batch of national red tourism projects. On March 28, 2014, the groundbreaking ceremony was held at Chen Yun Memorial. On September 7, 2014, the construction of the Historical Relics Hall was completed. On June 1, 2015, it was officially opened to the public.
Situated to the east of the Main Hall, the Historical Relics Hall is a two-story building with a total building area of about 1,572 square meters. It was designed by Mr. Xing Tonghe to keep the consistent style with the Main Hall. With an area of about 680 square meters, its first floor is an open exhibition warehouse to display the restored reception room, study and bedroom of Chen Yun’s residence at Zhongnanhai. The corridor is paved with the same floor as that of his residence at Zhongnanhai. The second floor is the warehouse of historical relics equipped with restoration office, research office and administration office.
Chen Yun Memorial has launched an exhibition titled Everlasting Charisma with a selection of Chen Yun’s historical relics. Extending 100 meters long, this exhibition consists of four parts including more than 700 historical relics, 88 pictures and 3 groups of text boards.
