Comrade Chen Yun was greatly concerned about and strict with the descendants of revolutionaries, requiring the descendants of high-ranking cadres to adhere to the CPC’s revolutionary traditions. In this letter to Lu Kaiti, the son of Chen’s old comrade-in-arms Lu Quansheng, Chen pointed out that “never give yourself the air of a meritorious revolutionary’s descendant; the actions of revolutionaries are only to serve the people.” Similar letters were also written by Chen to other descendants of revolutionaries.
